Photosynthesis takes place in two stages: light-dependent reactions and the Calvin cycle (light-independent reactions). Light-dependent reactions, which take place in the thylakoid membrane, use light energy to make ATP and NADPH.

KIM [24]

Answer:

This question lacks options, options are:

A) cerebral cortex.

B) basal nuclei.

C) sensory pathways.

D) motor pathways.

E) All of the answers are correct.

The correct answer is E.

Explanation:

The cerebral cortex processes and filters its information before passing the most relevant aspects to other regions of the brain. Some of these brain regions, in turn, send information back to the cortex. These loops, known as 'feedback systems', are considered essential for the functioning of cortical networks and their adaptation to new sensory information. Neural circuits must first assess the importance of incoming sensory information and then refine how it is processed in the future. Positive feedback, triggered with the purpose of amplifying the response to the initial stimulus, can be compared to a chain reaction or a vicious circle. Few are the functions regulated by this mechanism; rather it is triggered in pathological situations. It is the system by means of which the organism very rarely regulates any of the bodily functions under normal conditions, making the initial stimulus to be maintained and even increased. This type of mechanism is predominantly present in pathological situations: Its constitutive elements are: stimulus, receptor, afferent pathway, integrating center, efferent pathway, effector and response. The response does not have the ability to satisfy the initial stimulus.

Summarize the effects of progesterone and estrogen
SVETLANKA909090 [29]

Definition:

The sex hormone and endogenous steroid present in human and other species ' menstrual cycle, pregnancy, and embryogenesis are known as "Progesterone" while the primary sex hormone in females responsible for the development and control of the female reproductive system and for the characteristics of secondary sex is termed as "Estrogen" or "oestrogen".

Progesterone Effects:

 • Progesterone has a variety of physiological effects which are exacerbated when estrogens are present for an instance in breast tissue, where estrogens permits progesterone to mediate lobuloalveolar development.
 • Progesterone has main effects on human sperm by non-genomic signals, as they move through the female tract before fertilization.
 • Progesterone is called "hormone of pregnancy" as transform the endometrium to its secretory stage for uterine implantation, decrease the maternal immune response to permit for the acceptance of the pregnancy during implantation and gestation, prevent preterm labor, inhibits lactation during pregnancy etc.

Estrogen Effects:

 • Effects structure of human and categorize them as male and female, while females have three kind of estrogen: Estrone (weak and found in women after menopause), Estradiol (strong and it is steroid produced by ovaries ) and Estriol (weakest and waste product after body produces estradiol).
 • It effects ovaries, vagina, Fallopian tube, uterus, cervix and mammary glands.
 • It triggers the release of an egg due to high level during halfway of cycle but decreases after ovulation.

Similarities between progesterone and estrogen:

Progesterone and estrogen as such do not have similar function but work with coordination as both are need for menstrual cycle functioning and regulation. Estrogens usually travel in fluids through the bloodstream, communicate with cells in the body's various tissues, and provide a message or guidance while progesterone helps to balance pregnancy period and to implant an egg in uterus.

The local reaction that occurs in the body as a result of invasion or injury is called the _____________ _________________
brilliants [131]

Answer:

Inflammation

Explanation:

The inflammatory response (inflammation) can be described as a localized response to an injury or to the destruction of tissues. It occurs when tissues are injured by bacteria, trauma, toxins, heat, or any other cause. The cells in damaged tissue release chemicals that can cause swelling, redness, heat, pain in the damaged area, all as part of the healing process. Some of those chemicals are cytokines that bring in body's immune cells. Others are histamine and prostaglandins which cause swelling, pain and fever. As the body heals, the inflammation gradually decreases.
