Y = -3x + 5

   5x - 4(-3x + 5) = -3
5x + 4(3x) - 4(5) = -3
     5x + 12x - 20 = -3
             17x - 20 = -3
                   + 20 + 20
                     17x = 17
                      17     17
                         x = 1
y = -3x + 5
y = -3(1)  + 5
y = -3 + 5
y = 2
(x, y) = (1, 2)

A rectangle's length is three times its breadth x metres. Write an expression
MA_775_DIABLO [31]

Answer:

1. Perimeter = 8x m

2. Area = 3x² m²

Step-by-step explanation:

From the question given above, the following data were obtained:

Breadth (B) = x m

Length (L) = 3B = 3x m

Perimeter (P) =?

Area(A) =?

1. Determination of the perimeter of the rectangle.

Breadth (B) = x m

Length (L) = 3x m

Perimeter (P) =?

P = 2(L + B)

P = 2(3x + x)

P = 2(4x)

P = 8x m

Thus, the perimeter of the rectangle is 8x m

2. Determination of the area of the rectangle.

Breadth (B) = x m

Length (L) = 3x m

Area(A) =?

A = L × B

A = 3x × x

A = 3x² m²

Thus, the area of the rectangle is 3x² m²

Must use quadratic equation or complete the square

quadratic formula
for
ax^2+bx+c=0
x=\frac{-b+/- \sqrt{b^2-4ac} }{2a}

0=6x^2-2x+5
a=6
b=-2
c=5

x=\frac{-(-2)+/- \sqrt{(-2)^2-4(6)(5)} }{2(6)}
x=\frac{2+/- \sqrt{4-120} }{12}
x=\frac{2+/- \sqrt{-116} }{12}
x=\frac{2+/- 2i\sqrt{29} }{12}
x=\frac{1+/- i\sqrt{29} }{6}

x=\frac{1+ i\sqrt{29} }{6} or x=\frac{1- i\sqrt{29} }{6}

Write an equation that models each of the following translation
Leno4ka [110]

Answer:

y = 1 - cos(x + 3)

Step-by-step explanation:

∵ y = Acos(Bx - C) + D

∵ The shift horizontally = - C/B

∵ The shift is 3 units to the left

∴ - C/B = 3

∴ C/B = -3

∴ y = 1 - cos(x + 3)

Jen and Kamlee are walking to school. After 20 minutes, Jen has walked 45 mile. After 25 minutes, Kamlee has walked 56 mile. Fin
AURORKA [14]

Answer:

Jen's speed = 135 miles per hour (Approx)

Kamlee's speed = 134 miles per hour (Approx)

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Jen walk = 45 miles

Jen's time = 20 min = 20/60 = 0.333 hour

Kamlee walk = 56 miles

Kamlee's time = 25 min = 25/60 = 0.416667 hour

Find:

Speed

Computation:

Jen's speed = 45 / 0.333

Jen's speed = 135 miles per hour (Approx)

Kamlee's speed = 56 / 0.416667

Kamlee's speed = 134 miles per hour (Approx)
