A) 7 - (-16) = \fbox {23}

B) -3 - 20 = \fbox {-23}

C) 10 - 13 = \fbox {-3}

D) -18 - (-5) = \fbox {-13}

You were correct, the exact answer is A. The others do not equal 23 besides that one. Good job!

A flagpole is 12 feet tall. Its shadow is 14 ft long. How far is it from the top of the
Kisachek [45]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

AC = length of flagpole = 12 ft

AB = length of shadow = 14 ft

BC = length from the top of the flagpole to the end of the shadow = x ft

Use Pythagorean theorem to find the length of x,

x² = AC² + BC²

   = 12² + 14²

  = 144 + 196

  = 340

x = √340

x = 18.4 ft

There is only one solution

When you graph both equations, they intersect therefore the intersection point tells you there is one solution. If it was infinitely many solutions then it would be the same line. If it was no solution then the graph would show to parallel lines.
