Match the characteristics to the blood vessels.
Darina [25.2K]

Answer:

Arteries transport blood away to the different parts of the body from the heart. Arteries are the largest blood vessels in the whole body with elastic walls.

Hence arteries match with carries blood away from the heart and largest blood vessel in diameter

Capillaries take blood from various parts of the body. It exchanges nutrients, oxygen, and waste with tissues or cells. These are the smallest blood vessels.

Hence capillary matches with exchanges nutrients with tissues and single walled.

Veins transport the blood to the heart from the body. These vessels have a thin endothelial layer.

Hence Vein matches with carries blood to the heart and has a thin endothelial layer.

What animals did the grant study in galapagos island?

Galapagos finches did the grant study in Galapagos island.

Galapagos finches is a piece of evidence supporting the theory of evolution.

Darwin's finches comprise a group of 15 species endemic to the Galápagos (14 species) and Cocos (1 species) Islands in the Pacific Ocean. The group is monophyletic and originated from an ancestral species that reached the Galápagos Archipelago from Central or South America.

What did he observe?

During the survey voyage of HMS Beagle, Darwin was unaware of the significance of the birds of the Galapagos. He had learned how to preserve bird specimen while at the University of Edinbugh and and had been keen on shooting, but he had no expert in ornithology and by this stage of the voyage concentrated mainly on geology. Nonetheless, these birds were to play an important part in the inception of Darwin’s theory of evolution by natural selection.

What was the brief goal of their studies?

All of Darwin's observations and insights, plus reading of increasing population growth and demand for limited resources, brought him to his theory of natural selection. Briefly, this means that individuals better adapted to their environment survive and increase in number through reproduction.

What did they conclude?

Conclusion:

Charles Darwin deserves primary credit for the theory of evolution. He developed existing ideas about descent with modification while providing a large body of evidence in support of them, and he was the first person to perceive thatnatural selection is the primary force behind evolution.

The sympathetic nervous system differs from the parasympathetic nervous system in that _________. a. the sympathetic nervous sys
OverLord2011 [107]

Answer:

One of the functional differences between the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system is that in the sympathetic nervous system first stage neurons have synapses a considerable distance from the target organ (Option C).

Explanation:

Sympathetic nervous system is part of the autonomic nervous system, and is responsible for producing the body's activating response, such as increased heart rate, pupil dilation, and increased muscle strength and endurance. The main neurotransmitters of this system are epinephrine (adrenaline) and norepinephrine.

One of the fundamental characteristics of the sympathetic nervous system is its ability to release neurotransmitters even when they are far from the receptors, while the nerve ganglia of the parasympathetic nervous system must be close to the target organs.
