Answer:

Velocity: The rate of change of displacement of an object (displacement over elapsed time) is velocity. Velocity is a vector since it has both magnitude (called speed) and direction. For example, if you drive 10 miles North in 0.25 hours (15 minutes), your velocity is 10 miles/0.25 hours = 40 mph in the northerly direction. For further explanation of vectors click here.

Acceleration: The rate of change of velocity is acceleration. Like velocity, acceleration is a vector and has both magnitude and direction. For example, a car in straight-line motion is said to have forward (positive) acceleration if it is speeding up and rearward (negative) acceleration if it is slowing down. We sometimes refer to negative acceleration as deceleration.

A tennis ball, 0.314 kg, is accelerated at a rate of 164 m/s2 when hit by a professional tennis player. What force does the play
SVEN [57.7K]
Newton's 2nd law of motion:

                    Force = (mass) x (acceleration)

                             = (0.314 kg) x (164 m/s²)

                             =    51.5 newtons

                         (about 11.6 pounds) .

Notice that the ball is only accelerating while it's in contact with the racket.
The instant the ball loses contact with the racket, it stops accelerating, and
sails off in a straight line at whatever speed it had when it left the strings.

What connects space and time in our Universe?
Bumek [7]

Answer:

Einstein had realized in 1905, that space and time, are intimately connected with each other. ... Thus one can think of space and time together, as a four-dimensional entity, called space-time. Each point of space-time is labeled by four numbers, that specify its position in space, and in time.

A Drive to the BeachMary drove from her home to the beach that is 30 mi from her house. The first 15 mi she drove at 60 mph, and
Allushta [10]

Answer:

Explanation:

Let us calculate the average velocity .

Average velocity = total distance / total time

Time taken to drive first 15 mi

= 15 / 60 = .25 h

Time taken to drive next 15 mi

= 15 / 30 = .5 h

Total time = .25 + .5 = .75 h

Total distance = 30 mi

average speed = 30 / .75

= 40 mi / h

So average speed is 40 mph which is less than given velocity of 45 mph .

Hence if she travels at 45 mph , she will take less time .

Many organisms on Earth exhibit similar ____________.
valentinak56 [21]

Answer:

The correct answer is - Characteristics.

Explanation:

On Earth, there are many organisms that shared similar characteristics with other organisms in various ways. These similarities of the characteristics could result from similar habitat, common ancestor, similar function, genetics, and many other reasons.

The example of such shared characteristics are different kinds of birds that have wings and lay eggs, while mammals give birth to babies and many other traits and characteristics. On the basis of the traits and characteristics organisms shared they are grouped and classified.
