During gylcosis what is the source of the chemical energy that is captured in ATP
Vesna [10]

Explanation:

The breakdown of glucose.

During glycolysis, enzymes act on the substrate, glucose. The covalent bonds of the macromolecule contain energy that is released and stored within ATP.

Glycolysis occurs in the cytoplasm; here, 2 molecules of ATP are used to cleave glucose into 2 pyruvates, 4 ATP and 2 electron carrying NADH molecules.

Further Explanation:

In all eukaryotic cells mitochondria are small cellular organelles bound by membranes, these make most of the chemical energy required for powering the biochemical reactions within the cell. This chemical energy is stored within the molecule ATP which is produced. Respiration in the mitochondria utilizes oxygen for the production of ATP in the Krebs’ or Citric acid cycle via the oxidization of pyruvate( through the process of glycolysis in the cytoplasm).

overall: C6H12O6 (glucose) + 6 O2 → 6 CO2 + 6 H2O + ≈38 ATP

Do you think it is safe for animal's genes to be tampered with? What about humans? If
Umnica [9.8K]
I wouldn’t genetically engineer my child as this has a lot of ethical concerns as certain people believe that we are created in the image of God so altering that would be deemed as wrong and sinful. Also this may have later health concerns for the child which hasn’t yet been tested so can not be sure if having designer babies is safe or not.
