The perimeter is 2 width + 2 length. So 200 = 2(36) + 2 length and that simplies to 200 = 72 + 2 length. Now we have to subtract 72 from both sides to get the 2 lengths alone. So 128 = 2 length. Finally, we divide both sides by 2 to get the length alone. 64 = length. Now since the perimeter has to be less than 200 inches than the length can be any number less than 64.
