Answer:

Homeostasis is the internal equilibrium maintained by the cells. If the homeostasis gets disturbed than diseases might occur.

Explanation:

The cells maintain its equilibrium throughout the body. With the change in the external environment, the cells also adjusts itself to maintain its stability inside the body.

For example - at higher altitude, the oxygen concentration of the environment is less and to compensate the low oxygen content in the atmosphere, the number of red blood cell inside the body increases.

Answer:

Homeostasis is the constant condition maintained by the body to perform essential functions. The human body has many homeostasis regulatory mechanisms like the body maintains its temperature at 37°c by sweating in summer and shivering in winter to maintain the functioning capability of our enzymes.

The human body maintains the water balance of the releasing and stopping secretion of hormones that affect water reabsorption. When glucose concentration becomes high pancreas release insulin that reduce the blood glucose level.

Blood acts as a buffer to maintain the acid-base balance so that oxygen can circulate properly in between the body organs and enzymes work efficiently.

So homeostasis mechanism is very essential for the human body for proper functioning and without it, humans can not survive.

Impulses originating in the part of the brain called the medulla would most directly affect which body structure?
gtnhenbr [62]

The question is incomplete. The complete question is:

Question: Impulses originating in the part of the brain called the medulla would most directly affect which body structure?

a. A leg muscle

b. A ligament

c. An arm bone

d. The heart

Answer:

d. The heart

Explanation:

The medulla oblongata contains a number of reflex centers for regulating vital body functions such as heartbeat, breathing, and vasoconstriction. The medulla contains several nuclei, a collection of neuronal cell bodies.

For example, impulses originated in the cardiovascular center regulates the rate and force of the heartbeat and the diameter of blood vessels. Impulses from the cardiovascular center flow along sympathetic and parasympathetic neurons. An increase in sympathetic stimulation from the cardiovascular center of medulla increases heart rate and contractility while a decrease in sympathetic stimulation decreases heart rate and contractility.
