Answer:

The USDA Food patterns were created to assist people with doing Dietary Guidelines suggestion. They recognize everyday measures of nourishments, in supplement thick structures, to eat from five significant nutritional categories and their subgroups. It underscores the significance of a general good dieting design with each of the five groups, in addition to oils.

The major five food groups are:

  1. Fruits
  2. vegetables
  3. Grains
  4. Protein food
  5. Dairy

The USDA Food Patterns has set standards for each nutritional category in cups reciprocals (for Fruits, Vegetables, and Dairy) and ounce counterparts (for Grains and Protein Foods). Each example additionally incorporates a set number of calories (8-19%) that can be utilized in different ways, for example, modest quantities of sugars and saturated fats.

FOOD GROUPS SERVING SIZE(for 2000 calories/day)

  • Fruits 2 cups
  • Vegetables 2 1/2 cups
  • Grains 6 ounces
  • Protein food 5 1/2 ounces
  • Dairy 3 cups

Oils should also be included in our daily diets as it is equally essential for our body as they are major source of essential fatty acids and Vitamin E, but since they contain high amount of calories, the amount expended ought to be inside the AMDR for total fats without surpassing calorie limits. Oils should be used instead of solid fats. The recommendation for oils in the Healthy U.S.-Style Eating Pattern is 27 g (about 5 teaspoons) per day.

Added sugars: These include syrups and other sweeteners. When sugars are added to foods and drinks enhance their taste, they add calories without contributing basic nutrients. Using added sugars can make it hard for people to meet their daily supplements needs while remaining inside calorie limits. It is recommended to consume added sugars to less than 10% of calories per day.

Solid fats: They are solid at room temperature. E.g. includes butter fat, milk fat, chicken fat, beef fat, pork fat etc. They are high in saturated fats and trans fat which are a major contributors in raising blood LDL levels(thus causing increase cholesterol levels that leads to heart diseases).Oils are generally recommended instead of solid fats as it is more 'healthier'.

Discretionary calories are those 'extra/excess' calories that we enjoy after consuming our required daily recommended nutrients. This include soda, some fats from food such as low fat milk, hamburger, margarine etc

How would homeostasis be affected if the cardiac muscle stopped contracting?

The heart is a muscle, therefore, if the cardiac muscles stopped contracting, the result would be the ceasing of heart function. That would lead to death, as blood wouldn't be pumped throughout the body. Homeostasis would therefore be interrupted.
