Use the position function s(t) = –4.9t2 + 500, which gives the height (in meters) of an object that has fallen for t seconds fro

m a height of 500 meters. The velocity at time t = a seconds is given by the following.
lim t->a: (s(a) - s(t)) / (a - t)
Find the velocity of the object when t = 3. (Round your answer to two decimal places.)

Complete Question

The complete question is shown on the first uploaded image

Answer:

The  value is  v(3) =  29.4 \  m/s

Step-by-step explanation:

From the question we are told that

    s(t) =  -4.9t^2 + 500

And

    \lim_{t \to a}  \frac{s(a) - s(t)}{a-t}

Generally s(t) at t = a is mathematically evaluated as

      s(a) =  -4.9a^2+ 500

So

    s(a) - s(t) =  -4.9a^2 + 500 - ( -4.9t^2+500)

     s(a) - s(t) =  -4.9a^2 + 500 +4.9t^2-500)

      s(a) - s(t) = 4.9(t^2 - a^2)

Thus the velocity is represented as

     v(t) =\lim_{t \to a}  \frac{s(a) - s(t)}{a-t} \equiv \lim_{t \to a} \frac{4.9(t^2 -  a^2 )}{ a-t}

=>     v(t) = \lim_{t \to a}  - 4.9(a + t )

=>      v(t) = -4.9 (a + a )

=>      v(t) = -9.8a

Now at  t =  3

=>  v(3) = -9.8 (3)

=>   v(3) =  29.4 \  m/s

AlekseyPX
STEP 1:
convert gallons to cups & calculate total number of cups

1 gallon= 16 cups

= 8 gallons * 16 cups/gallon
= 128 cups total

STEP 2:
calculate total cups estimated for 20 guests

= 20 guests * 2 cups/guest
= 40 cups needed for guests

STEP 3:
subtract the difference between step 1 and step 2 to find leftover punch

= 128 cups - 40 cups
= 88 cups leftover

OR

GALLONS LEFTOVER
= 88 ÷ 16 cups/gallon= 5 1/2 gallons

ANSWER: There will be 88 cups or 5 1/2 gallons of punch leftover.

Hope this helps! :)

The angles of a triangular sail measure 9
alexira [117]
Hello!

You can classify a triangle by its sides or by its angles

Since all the sides are different it is a scalene triangle.

Since one angle is 90° it is also a right triangle.

Those are the two different ways

Hope this helps.
