Considering the equation :

iron + sulfur heat -----> iron sulfide

or

Fe + S -----> (heat) FeS

So, When iron and sulfur react to form iron sulfide. The chemical composition in the reactants that is of iron and sulfur is different from the chemical composition of the products that is iron sulfide. But in a physical change, the chemical composition of the sample doesn't change. So this reaction is a example of chemical change.

25. Which is an irreversible process?
Nesterboy [21]

The answer is 1) mixing of two gases by diffusion.

Once 2 gases are mixed by diffusion, they cannot be obtained from the mixture of gases. Hence, it is considered to be an irreversible process.

How many atoms of K are present in 195.49 grams of K? 3.0110 × 1024 6.0220 × 1024 1.1772 × 1026 4.5797 × 1027
Ierofanga [76]
<h2>Hello!</h2>

The answer is: 3.0110x10^{24}

<h2>Why?</h2>

First, we need to look for the K molecular mass:

K=39,098 g/mol

Also, we need to remember that 1 mol of a compound or element is equal to 6,022x10^{23} of that compound.

From the statement, we are asked to calculate how many atoms of K are present in 195,49 of K.

So, doing the calculations, we have:

195,49g*\frac{1mol}{39,08}*\frac{6,022x10^{23} atoms}{1 mol K} =3,0110x10^{24} \\

So, we have 3.0110x10^{24} atoms of K in 195,49 grams of K.

Have a nice day!

1. Calculate the energy change (q) of the surroundings (water) using the enthalpy equation
Rasek [7]

Answer:

Q1: 728.6 J.

Q2:

a) 668.8 J.

b) 0.3495 J/g°C.

Explanation:

<em>Q1: Calculate the energy change (q) of the surroundings (water) using the enthalpy equation:</em>

  • The amount of heat absorbed by water = Q = m.c.ΔT.

where, m is the mass of water (m = d x V = (1.0 g/mL)(24.9 mL) = 24.9 g).

c is the specific heat capacity of liquid water = 4.18 J/g°C.

ΔT is the temperature difference = (final T - initial T = 32.2°C - 25.2°C = 7.0°C).

<em>∴ The amount of heat absorbed by water = Q = m.c.ΔT</em> = (24.9 g)(4.18 J/g°C)(7.0°C) = 728.6 J.

<em>Q2:  Calculate the energy change (q) of the surroundings (water) using the enthalpy equation </em>

<em>qwater = m × c × ΔT.  </em>

<em>We can assume that the specific heat capacity of water is 4.18 J / (g × °C) and the density of water is 1.00 g/mL. calculate the specific heat of the metal. Use the data from your experiment for the unknown metal in your calculation.</em>

<em></em>

a) First part: the energy change (q) of the surroundings (water):

  • The amount of heat absorbed by water = Q = m.c.ΔT.

where, m is the mass of water (m = d x V = (1.0 g/mL)(25 mL) = 25 g).

c is the specific heat capacity of liquid water = 4.18 J/g°C.

ΔT is the temperature difference = (final T - initial T = 31.6°C - 25.2°C = 6.4°C).

<em>∴ The amount of heat absorbed by water = Q = m.c.ΔT</em> = (25 g)(4.18 J/g°C)(6.4°C) = <em>668.8 J.</em>

<em>b) second part:</em>

<em>Q water = Q unknown metal. </em>

<em>Q unknown metal =  - </em>668.8 J. (negative sign due to the heat is released from the metal to the surrounding water).

<em>Q unknown metal =  - </em>668.8 J = m.c.ΔT.

m = 27.776 g, c = ??? J/g°C, ΔT = (final T - initial T = 31.6°C - 100.5°C = - 68.9°C).

<em>- </em>668.8 J = m.c.ΔT = (27.776 g)(c)( - 68.9°C) = - 1914 c.

∴ c = (<em>- </em>668.8)/(- 1914) = 0.3495 J/g°C.

Complete the following precipitation reactions with balanced molecular, total ionic, and net ionic equations:
son4ous [18]

The balanced molecular equation is Na₂S(aq) + ZnSO₄(aq) → Na₂SO₄(aq) + ZnS(s)

The total ionic equation is 2Na⁺(aq) + S²⁻(aq) + Zn²⁺(aq) + SO₄²⁻(aq) → 2Na⁺(aq) + SO₄²⁻(aq) + ZnS(s)

The net ionic equation is S²⁻(aq) + Zn²⁺(aq) → ZnS(s)

<h3>what is precipitation?</h3>

Any liquid or frozen water that condenses in the atmosphere and falls to the ground is known as precipitation. Snow, sleet, and rain are just a few of the variations. One of the three main processes that make up the global water cycle is precipitation, along with evaporation and condensation.

Water vapor in the clouds condenses into increasing-sized droplets of water, forming precipitation. Droplets fall to the Earth when they are sufficiently heavy. The water droplets may freeze to produce ice if a cloud is colder, as it would be at higher elevations. Depending on the temperature within the cloud and at the Earth's surface, these ice crystals eventually discharge to the Earth as snow, hail, or rain.
