A decimeter is 1/10 of a meter. A centimeter is 1/100 of a meter. So, 27 centimeters is 2.7 decimeters because 2.7 x 10 is 27.

Prove that if two lines intersect each other then the vertically opposite angles are equal.
Svetradugi [14.3K]

If two lines intersect each other then the vertically opposite angles are equal.

What is a line?

A line is a one-dimensional figure, which has length but no width. A line is made of a set of points which is extended in opposite directions infinitely.

To prove, two lines intersect each other then the vertically opposite angles are equal.

Suppose there are two lines AB and CD intersecting at a point O.

So, the angles a and c ; b and d are vertically opposite.

Now taking line AB,

Since sum of angles made on a straight line is 180°.

Thus ∠a + ∠b = 180°    ...(i)

Similarly taking line CD,

∠b + ∠c = 180°            ....(ii)

Comparing eq (i) and (ii) we get,

∠a + ∠b = ∠b + ∠c

Therefore, we get

∠a = ∠c

which are vertically opposite angles.

Taking line CD,

Since sum of angles made on a straight line is 180°.

Thus ∠c + ∠b = 180°    ...(iii)

Similarly taking line CD,

∠c + ∠d = 180°            ....(iv)

Comparing eq (iii) and (iv) we get,

∠c + ∠b = ∠c + ∠d

Therefore, we get

∠b = ∠d

which are vertically opposite angles.

Thus, if two lines intersect each other then the vertically opposite angles are equal.

DiKsa [7]

Answer:

\frac{6}{5}

Step-by-step explanation:

*Perpendicular lines have negative reciprocals slopes*

First, find the slope-intercept form of 5x + 6y = -54:

5x + 6y = -54

-5x          -5x

6y = -5x - 54

/6         /6

y = -\frac{5}{6}x - 9

y = mx + b

So, the reciprocal slope of m = -\frac{5}{6} is m = \frac{6}{5}

Hope this helps!

The sum of two numbers is 82. Their difference is 24. Write a system of equations that describes this situation. Solve by elimin
Shkiper50 [21]
Let one number be x and the second number y
x + y = 82
x - y = 24
To solve by elimination add the two equations together to get
2x = 106
x = 53

If one number is 53 substitute x=53 into the first equation.
53 + y = 82
y=82-53
y=29
Check in the other equation
53-29 = 24.
