Answer:

As, when Graph is reflected across the X axis

1. The two, Image which is Quadrilateral G H I J and Pre image which is Quadrilateral QPRS will be congruent.

2. Distance from X axis to each of the vertices of  Quadrilateral QPRS will be same as distance from each of the vertices of Quadrilateral G H I J from X axis.

As, Quadrilateral QPRS lies in first Quadrant, so when it is reflected across X axis, it moves in Second Quadrant which is Quadrilateral  GHIJ.

Q→→G, P→→H, R→→I, S→→J.

Coordinates of S=(1,1)

Coordinates of J=(-1,1)

What is the answer to this math problem: you have 3 bottles of lotion. Each bottle contains 4.56 mL, 2.31 mL and 2.12 mL of lotio
ozzi

Answer: 8.99mL

Step-by-step explanation:

Since each bottle has 4.56mL, 2.31mL and 2.12mL,

Total lotion= 4.56 + 2.31 + 2.12

= 8.99mL

Choose the set of three sides that correctly matches each description. Each option will be used only once.

Answers:

  • 30-60-90 triangle = 4, 8, 4*sqrt(3)
  • 45-45-90 triangle = 6, 6, 6*sqrt(2)
  • Right triangle, but not special right triangle =  6, 8, 10
  • Triangle but not a right triangle = 7, 8, 10
  • Not a triangle = 7, 12, 19

======================================================

Explanation:

The template for a 30-60-90 triangle is that the short leg x leads to hypotenuse 2x, and longer leg x*sqrt(3). If x = 4, then we get the sides 4, 8, 4*sqrt(3) which are the short leg, hypotenuse, and long leg in that order.

----------------

The template for a 45-45-90 triangle is that we have x as the leg length and x*sqrt(2) as the hypotenuse. If x = 6, then we end up with the sides 6, 6, 6*sqrt(2)

-----------------

The triangle with sides 6, 8, 10 is a right triangle because a = 6, b = 8, c = 10 makes a^2+b^2 = c^2 true. I'm using the converse of the pythagorean theorem. We don't have a special right triangle because these sides do not fit the templates mentioned in the previous two sections above.

-------------------

The triangle with sides a = 7, b = 8, c = 10 on the other hand will not make a^2+b^2 = c^2 true. Note that a^2+b^2 = 7^2+8^2 = 113 which is not the same as 10^2 = 100. However, a triangle is possible because adding any two sides leads to a sum larger than the third side (triangle inequality theorem).

-------------------

We cannot form a triangle with sides 7, 12, 19 because the sides 7 and 12 add to 7+12 = 19 but that's not longer than the third side 19.

The triangle inequality theorem says that if you want to form a triangle with sides a,b,c then the following three inequalities must all be true

a+b > c

a+c > b

b+c > a

What is the length of the missing leg?
Nina [5.8K]

Answer: 8yd

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula to find a missing side is a^2 + b^2 = c^2

Using this, you can plug in what you have. C represents the hypotenuse.

6^2 + b^2 = 10^2 or 36 + b^2 = 100 so now you solve for b.

Subtract 36 from both sides so now your equation is b^2 = 64 and then square root both sides so b=8

How to do two sphere are cut from a certain uniform rock?
Elan Coil [88]
This does not sound like a school problem, nor mathematics.
However, since it is an interesting question, I will provide an answer, at the risk of both answer and question being deleted.

Rock (stones, minerals) can be made into spheres in a very ingeneous way.
We have a rotating drum very similar to a clothes dryer.  Inside, we put the rock or rocks intended to be cut/made into spheres.  We add coarse abrasives,  like sand, crushed diamond... depending on the material the rock is made of.  We then let the drum rotate for a long time until the rock is spherical.  However the surface will still be rough.  If we want that smooth, we have to replace the abrasive completely with a finer grade of abrasive, progressively, until the abrasive produces a smooth surface on the rock.

In fact, a machine based on the same principles is used to peel potatoes.  Nowadays, most potato chips are done in factories and most of them not peeled.
