<span>The Japanese surrender did not take place before April of 1945. This occurred in August of that year, with the formal signatures taking place on September 2. The surrender happened after the Allies (namely, the United States) dropped the bombs Little Boy and Fat Man on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.</span>
