The remainder theorem says that if x-c is a factor of a polynomial p(x), then the remainder upon dividing \dfrac{p(x)}{x-c} is 0 so that there exists a lower degree polynomial q(x) as the quotient:

\dfrac{p(x)}{x-c}=q(x)

Using the fact that x-2 is a factor, you can find a quadratic q(x) which is easy to factorize further.

Synthetic division yields

q(x)=4x^2+4x-8

which can be factored further as

4(x^2+x-2)=4(x+2)(x-1)

So,

f(x)=4x^3-4x^2-16x+16=4(x-2)(x+2)(x-1)

The roots are then x=-2,1,2.

Enter the ordered pair for the vertices for Rx-axis(QRST).
mash [69]

Given:

The vertices of a polygon QRST are T(-2, 3), Q(1, 5), R(3, -1) and S(0, 0).

To find:

The vertices for R_{x-axis}(QRST).

Solution:

The rule R_{x-axis}(QRST) represents refection of polygon QRST across the x-axis.

If a figure is reflected across the x-axis, then

(x,y)\to (x,-y)

Using this rule, we get

T(-2,3)\to T'(-2,-3)

Q(1,5)\to Q'(1,-5)

R(3,-1)\to R'(3,1)

S(0,0)\to S'(0,0)

Therefore, the vertices for R_{x-axis}(QRST) are T'(-2, -3), Q'(1, -5), R'(3, 1) and S'(0, 0).

A circle with area 9 pie has a sector with a central angle of 17/9 pie radians .
zmey [24]

Answer:  8.5π

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

If I understand the question correctly, the entire circle has an Area of 9π and you are looking for the Area of the shaded region which has a central angle of \dfrac{17}{9}\pi

the section of the circle that is shaded is \dfrac{\dfrac{17}{9}\pi}{2\pi}=\dfrac{17\pi}{18\pi}=\dfrac{17}{18}

Area of the shaded region is: 9\pi \cdot \dfrac{17}{18}=\dfrac{17}{2}\pi=8.5\pi
