1) Both portrayals demonstrate an unequal appreciation of cultures that border the United States. One Way Mirror describes the fact that Canadians are very interested in what happens in the United States, but Americans are ignorant to it. The Glare of the Truth shows that Americans are oblivious of the great inequality and other culture that occupies the world to the south and the border region.

2) Both portrayals describe positive elements of US culture, and the fascination and enticing nature of the United States.

3) Both essays describe the positive qualities of their respective countries, implying that the United States is not in fact the center of the world. One Way Mirror celebrates the fact that Canadians are kind, clean, and knowledgeable about the rest of the world, and Glare of the Truth describes the magic of Spanish and wonderful elements of Mexican culture. <span />

Which of the following best describes women's participation in the workplace after the women's rights movement?
mel-nik [20]

Women were able to hold a more prominent role in the workplace following the passing of the 19th Amendment. With the ability to work alongside men, they were able to receive jobs now. However, many didn't hire women because of their limited mindsets on their work ethic.

Many jobs would be filled in by women in the factories during WWII. Many men were sent to fight the Axis and the Reds overseas, and we needed people to manufacture our goods for the war and at home. Seeing as how women were able to get jobs by then, they filled in.

For a long time, they were just seen as temporary work, and were expected to give up their jobs when the men returned. A little chauvinistic, but such was the troubled time back then.

What do you need to know when passing under a river bridge?
kobusy [5.1K]
Most states have laws requiring that you pass under bridges at a slow speed. You should always reduce your speed and proceed with caution near any bridge or man-made structure that decreases visibility and passage. Many bridges are high enough to allow normal boat passage.
