There are two common types: General Obligation Bonds and Revenue Bonds.

GOB: Issued by cities, states or countries and are not primarily secured by assets. The issuer can tax all who apply (citizens, residents, etc) for the bondholders.

RB: Are NOT backed by the government and come from a specific source such as the toll paid for driving on a toll road.

FROM GRADPOINT

These are debt securities issued by state or local governments to pay for ongoing products such as roads, schools, and airports. When state and local governments issue securities, they are one of two types: general obligation bonds or revenue bonds. In general, municipal bonds are safe investments, although defaults do occasionally happen. Insurance can be purchased on these bonds if defaults are a concern. One advantage of municipal bonds over many other types of investments is that the interest earned on them may be exempt from federal U.S. taxes. This generally depends on how the money from the sale is used; however, capital gains from these sales are generally subject to taxes.

General obligation bonds are backed by the taxing power and credit of the government.

Revenue bonds are backed by profits from the project for which the bond was issued.

Which of the following is true regarding the empirical evidence of a deterrent effect from the death penalty? a. Studies show a
Darya [45]

Answer:

c. Studies show that the death penalty is not an effective deterrent.

Explanation:

Several scientific evidences, observed through scientific research and analysis of specific facts and results, affirm that the death penalty is not an effective deterrent, since it cannot fight criminality, nor prevent hideous crimes from being done within society. Countries that apply the death penalty do not have low crime rates, which proves this statement, from a social point of view. However, countries with a high level of education, low unemployment rates, high HDI and no death penalty, show positive results in combating heinous crimes.

In selecting the capital, Washington DC had advantages such as: not a state but a district free from biased influence in politics, being appropriately placed to take responsibility for war debts post-Revolutionary War and being an area amiable to slave holders and their plantations.

Disadvantages of the Washington, DC capitol include the initial loss of land from the states of Maryland and Virginia, the area is not considered a state, and tax burdens on its residents.

If the capital was being moved today, three cities that might be considered include: New York, New York, Dallas, Texas, or Seattle, Washington.
