Shayna and Nicole are selling pies for a school fundraiser. Customers can buy apple pies and blackberry pies. Shayna sold 7 apple pies and 2 blackberry pies for a total of $148. Nicole sold 7 apple pies and 4 blackberry pies for a total of $184- so the cost of the (D) apple pie: $16, blackberry pie: $18

Step-by-step explanation:

Let A = the price of an apple pie and let B = the price of a blackberry pies. Using the information in the question we get two equations:

7A + 2B = $148======>(i)

7A + 4B = $184=======>(ii)

Making use of the Elimination Method . We multiply the bottom equation by -1 and then add the two equations together, we get:

7A + 2B = 148

-7A - 4B = -184

-2B = -36

B = 36/2=18

The cost of a blackberry pies is $18.

To find the cost of an apple pie, we simply substitute B = 18 in one of the equation.So choosing equation (i) we get

7A + 2(18) = 148

7A + 36 = 148

7A = 112

A = 16

The cost of an apple pie is $16

Solve for x write the smaller solution first and the larger solution second. Round to two decimal places (x+8)^2-7=0
siniylev [52]

Answer:

x ≈ - 10.65, x ≈ - 5.35

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

(x + 8)² - 7 = 0 ( add 7 to both sides )

(x + 8)² = 7 ( take the square root of both sides )

x + 8 = ± \sqrt{7} ( subtract 8 from both sides )

x = - 8 ± \sqrt{7} , thus

x = - 8 - \sqrt{7} ≈ - 10.65

x = - 8 + \sqrt{7} ≈ - 5.35

At the movie theatre, child admission is $5.50 and adult admission is $8.60 . On Thursday, twice as many adult tickets as child
kirza4 [7]

Let child admissions be x and adult admissions be y. We can then use the information given to form a system of equations and solve that system.

The first equation is based on the information about the money made.

5.50x+8.60y=726.40

The second equation is based on the fact that twice as many adult tickets as child tickets were sold.

y = 2x

Since we have an equation equal to one of the variables, substitution will be the easiest way to solve this system. This is when we replace the variable of an equation with its value in the other.

5.50x+8.60y=726.40

5.50x+8.60(2x)=726.40

5.50x+17.2x = 726.40

22.7x = 726.40

x = 32

The number of children tickets sold was 32.

Extra:

To find the number of adult tickets can be found by plugging in the known value we found and solving for the other unknown.

y = 2x

y = 2(32)

y = 64

The number of adult tickets sold was 64.

Andrews [41]

Answer:

925 cubic inches

Step-by-step explanation:

Miguel has a toolbox that measures 18 1/2 inches by 12 1/2 inches by 4 inches. Fill in the formula to find the volume of the toolbox

The toolbox is shaped as a Rectangular prism

The volume of a rectangular prism = Length × Width × Height

Hence,

Length = 18 1/2 inches

Width = 12 1/2 inches

Height = 4 inches

Volume of the toolbox =

18 1/2 inches × 12 1/2 inches × 4 inches

= 925 cubic inches
