Answer:

Genetics is the study of heredity, which means the study of genes and factors related to all aspects of genes. The scientific history of genetics began with the works of Gregor Mendel in the mid-19th century. Prior to Mendel, genetics was primarily theoretical whilst, after Mendel, the science of genetics was broadened to include experimental genetics. Developments in all fields of genetics and genetic technology in the first half of the 20th century provided a basis for the later developments. In the second half of the 20th century, the molecular background of genetics has become more understandable. Rapid technological advancements, followed by the completion of Human Genome Project, have contributed a great deal to the knowledge of genetic factors and their impact on human life and diseases. Currently, more than 1800 disease genes have been identified, more than 2000 genetic tests have become available, and in conjunction with this at least 350 biotechnology-based products have been released onto the market. Novel technologies, particularly next generation sequencing, have dramatically accelerated the pace of biological research, while at the same time increasing expectations. In this paper, a brief summary of genetic history with short explanations of most popular genetic techniques is given.

Ron and Hermione begin with 1.50 g of the hydrate copper(II)sulfate·x-hydrate (CuSO4·xH2O), where x is an integer. Part of their
iris [78.8K]

Answer:

5

Explanation:

We can obtain the value of x by doing the following:

Mass of hydrated salt (CuSO4.xH2O) = 1.50g

Mass of anhydrous salt (CuSO4) = 0.96g

Mass of water molecule(xH2O) = 1.50 — 0.96 = 0.54g

Molar Mass of CuSO4.xH2O = 63.5 + 32 + (16x4) + x(2 +16) = 63.5 + 32 + 64 + 18x = 159.5 + 18x

Mass of water(xH2O) molecules in the hydrate salt is given by:

xH2O/CuSO4.xH2O = 0.54/1.5

18x/(159.5 + 18x) = 0.36

Cross multiply to express in linear form

18x = 0.36 (159.5 + 18x)

18x = 57.42 + 6.48x

Collect like terms

18x — 6.48x = 57.42

11.52x = 57.42

Divide both side by 11.52

x = 57.42/11.52

x = 5

Therefore, the unknown integer x is 5 and the formula for the hydrated salt is CuSO4.5H2O

One solution has a formula C (n) H (2n) O (n) If this material weighs 288 grams, dissolves in weight 90 grams, the solution will
saw5 [17]

Explanation:

The given data is as follows.

Boiling point of water (T^{o}_{b}) = 100^{o}C = (100 + 273) K = 323 K,

Boiling point of solution (T_{b}) = 101.24^{o}C = (101.24 + 273) K = 374.24 K

Hence, change in temperature will be calculated as follows.

              \Delta T_{b} = (T_{b} - T^{o}_{b})

                           = 374.24 K - 323 K

                           = 1.24 K

As molality is defined as the moles of solute present in kg of solvent.

            Molality = \frac{\text{weight of solute \times 1000}}{\text{molar mass of solute \times mass f solvent(g)}}

Let molar mass of the solute is x grams.

Therefore,   Molality = \frac{\text{weight of solute \times 1000}}{\text{molar mass of solute \times mass f solvent(g)}}

                        m = \frac{288 g \times 1000}{x g \times 90}

                          = \frac{3200}{x}

As,    \Delta T_{b} = k_{b} \times molality

                 1.24 = 0.512 ^{o}C/m \times \frac{3200}{x}

                       x = \frac{0.512 ^{o}C/m \times 3200}{1.24}

                          = 1321.29 g

This means that the molar mass of the given compound is 1321.29 g.

It is given that molecular formula is C_{n}H_{2n}O_{n}.

As, its empirical formula is CH_{2}O and mass is 30 g/mol. Hence, calculate the value of n as follows.

                n = \frac{\text{Molecular mass}}{\text{Empirical mass}}

                   = \frac{1321.29 g}{30 g/mol}

                   = 44 mol

Thus, we can conclude that the formula of given material is C_{44}H_{88}O_{44}.
