All Muslims have six major beliefs :

1. The belief in one God ( Allah ).

2. The belief in Angels.

3. The belief in holy books: Torah that was revealed to the prophet Moses, the Bible that was revealed to the prophet Jesus and the Quran that was revealed to the prophet Muhammad.

4.The belief in all the prophets sent by God.

5. The belief in the Day of Judgement.

6. The belief in divine decree.

The two major denominations of Islam, Shia and Sunny, dispute over the succession over the Islamic prophet Muhammad. There are also some differences in religious practice, traditions and customs and on the interpretation of hadith ( the records of the words and actions of the prophet Muhammad).
