In any population there will be variations of certain characteristics. For example, in the giraffe population there is a variati

on in neck lengths among individuals. Some have longer necks and some have shorter necks. Which of these events would the giraffes with the longer necks have the best chance of surviving?
A) loggers come in a chop down all of the trees
B) insects can only eat the highest leaves due to the canopy
C) a plant disease infects the trees, resulting in total leaf death.

Hi there!

The best possible scenario for the giraffes with longer necks to survive would be one in which all the lower leaves somehow disappear! This would mean only giraffes with longer necks can eat therefore those will have a better chance of surviving. Luckily the answer that fits that perfectly would be...

D. Monkeys swarm in and tear off all of the lower leaves to use for shelters.

Space travel has come a long way since Laika, but there are still many celestial bodies waiting to be explored. What do you thin
k0ka [10]

Answer:

NASA's Artemis program has a goal of landing humans on the moon in 2025 to begin building a base camp. This long-term human presence on the lunar surface will help NASA prepare for human space exploration missions of greater distance and duration, including an eventual crewed flight to Mars. Space can help us prepare the feutre Space exploration allows us to prove or disprove scientific theories developed on Earth. Studying the solar system, for example, has brought us insights into such phenomena as gravity, the magnetosphere, the atmosphere, fluid dynamics and the geological evolution of other planets. That has led to the development of various technologies that feed back into the economy and improve our lives on Earth. Without space programs, we wouldn't have GPS, accurate weather prediction, solar cells, or the ultraviolet filters in sunglasses and cameras.

Identify the evolutionary forces that can cause allele frequencies to change from one generation to the next.
Irina-Kira [14]

Allele frequencies to change from one generation to the next.-

B. Mutation; C. Random genetic drift; D. Migration; F. Natural selection

 • Selection, mutation, migration, and genetic drift are the mechanisms that effect changes in allele frequencies.
 • When one or more of these forces are acting, the population violates Hardy-Weinberg assumptions, and evolution occurs.

Why do allele frequencies change from one generation to the next?

Random selection: Allele frequencies may fluctuate from one generation to the next when people with particular genotypes outlive those with different genotypes.

No mutation: Allele frequencies may fluctuate from one generation to the next if new alleles are produced via mutation or if alleles mutate at different rates.

What are 5 factors that cause changes in allele frequency?

 • A population, a collection of interacting individuals of a single species, exhibits a change in allele frequency from one generation to the next due to five main processes.
 • These include natural selection, gene flow, genetic drift, and mutation.
