These functions are called their characteristics. These characteristics include movement, reproduction, nutrition, irritability, growth, excretion, respiration, and even death.

However, a group of living things cannot perform one of these characteristics, which is movement. Movement is referred to as the change in position of an organism. Plants, one of the groups of living things, cannot move from their position. Although they can undergo gradual changes in their body parts but they do that in response to certain stimuli (Irritability) not leaving their static position.
