Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let L = Lucy, C = Carol and A = Arita , x = Total amount of marbles

Lucy shares 1/3 with Carol and keeps 1/4 for herself.

This means that Carol has 1/3 of the total amount of marbles, Lucy has 1/4 of the total amount of marbles.

C = 1/3x

L = 1/4x

We are also told that Carol has 7 more marbles than Lucy

C = L + 7

Since C = 1/3x  and L = 1/4x you can sub these into the above equation and you get:

1/3x = 1/4x + 7

Subtract 1/4x from both sides

1/3x - 1/4x = 7

1/12x = 7

Multiply both sides by 12 to find x.

x = 7 times 12 = 84 (Total amount of marbles = 84)

Amrita gets the remaining number of marbles.

A = x - C - L

A = 84 - 1/3 (84) - 1/4 (84)

A = 35

How to differentiate ?
Bas_tet [7]

Use the power, product, and chain rules:

y = x^2 (3x-1)^3

• product rule

\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx} = \dfrac{\mathrm d(x^2)}{\mathrm dx}\times(3x-1)^3 + x^2\times\dfrac{\mathrm d(3x-1)^3}{\mathrm dx}

• power rule for the first term, and power/chain rules for the second term:

\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx} = 2x\times(3x-1)^3 + x^2\times3(x-1)^2\times\dfrac{\mathrm d(3x-1)}{\mathrm dx}

• power rule

\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx} = 2x\times(3x-1)^3 + x^2\times3(3x-1)^2\times3

Now simplify.

\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx} = 2x(3x-1)^3 + 9x^2(3x-1)^2 \\\\ \dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx} = x(3x-1)^2 \times (2(3x-1) + 9x) \\\\ \boxed{\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx} = x(3x-1)^2(15x-2)}

You could also use logarithmic differentiation, which involves taking logarithms of both sides and differentiating with the chain rule.

On the right side, the logarithm of a product can be expanded as a sum of logarithms. Then use other properties of logarithms to simplify

\ln(y) = \ln\left(x^2(3x-1)^3\right) \\\\ \ln(y) =  \ln\left(x^2\right) + \ln\left((3x-1)^3\right) \\\\ \ln(y) = 2\ln(x) + 3\ln(3x-1)

Differentiate both sides and you end up with the same derivative:

\dfrac1y\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx} = \dfrac2x + \dfrac9{3x-1} \\\\ \dfrac1y\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx} = \dfrac{15x-2}{x(3x-1)} \\\\ \dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx} = \dfrac{15x-2}{x(3x-1)} \times x^2(3x-1)^3 \\\\ \dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx} = x(15x-2)(3x-1)^2

An airplane has a wingspan of 20 feet and a length of 15 feet. If the model of this airplane has a wingspan of 8 inches, what is
Katen [24]

Answer:

The length of the model is 6 inches.

Step-by-step explanation:

The wingspan of the airplane and length of the airplane are a ratio of 4:3

The model is also supposed to be 4:3.

4:3 x 2 = 8:6

Or, 20x12=240

240/8=30

15x12=180

180/30=6.

1. 232 is 8 times the sum of Mark's and his sister's ages. His sister is 21. Find Mark's age.
AURORKA [14]

Answer:

a. 8 years

b. $49.20

Step-by-step explanation:

The computation is shown below:

a. The mark age is

Given that

232 is 8 times of the sum of mark and his sister ages

And, his sister is 21

So,

Let us assume the mark age be x

now

8(x + 21) = 232

x + 21 = 29

x = 29 -21

x = 8

b. The original price of the socks is

As each pair get $3 off

And she bought 6 pairs for $31.20

= $31.20 + 6 × $3

= $31.20 + 18

= $49.20
