The product of two numbers and the product of their greatest common factor and least common multiple are always equal.

Let the other number = X.

Greatest common factor is 6

Least common multiple is 36

We now have 6 * 36 = 12 * x

Simplify:

216 = 12x

Divide both sides by 12:

x = 216 / 12

x = 18

The other number is 18.

Gala2k [10]

Explanation:

There are 3 possible cases that describe the relationship between the mean and median of the collected data.

First case:

If the distribution is symmetric then, mean = median.

Second case:

For the positively skewed frequency distribution, the mean is greater than the median.

Third case:

For the negatively skewed frequency distribution mean is less than the median.

3 kilometres = 3,000 metres

so the ratio is 500 : 3000

= 1 : 3000/500

= 1: 6
