Instructors led an exercise class from a raised rectangular platform at the front of the room. The width of the platform was (3x

- 1) feet and the area was (9x^2 +6x- 3) ft^2. Find the length of this platform. After the exercise studio is remodeled, the area of the platform will be (9x2+ 12x+ 3) ft^2. By how many feet will the width of the platform change?

I will not do it all. I will set it up for you.

Area = length times width

A = LW

(9x^2 + 6x - 3) = L(3x - 1)

To find L, divide both sides by (3x - 1) using long division.

After finding L, go back to A = LW but this time use the NEW AREA given to be (9x^2+ 12x+ 3).

Set Up:

(9x^2+ 12x+ 3) = LW

Note: Plug the L you found above into (9x^2+ 12x+ 3) = LW and then solve for W.

sergiy2304 [10]

Answer:

-4

Step-by-step explanation:

(x+yi)+6i=2

Set the real terms equal

x =2

Set the imaginary parts equal

y +6 = 0

Subtract 6 from each side

y+6-6=0-6

y = -6

We want to find x+y

Solve the system of equations.
x + 3y = -1
2x + 2y = 6
Lerok [7]

Answer:

y= -2

x = 5

Step-by-step explanation:

Multiply the top equation by 2 to get

2x + 6y = -2

then subtract the bottom equation by the new equation to get

2x + 6y = -2

--------------------

2x + 2y = 6

which is

4y = -8

y = -2

If y = -2

Then plug -2 into y in the top equation to get x + 3(-2) = -1 and simplify which is

x + (-6) and add 6 to both sides to get x = -1 + 6

which is x = 5
