What do the places mean? I’d say the signs are negative since both values are (-3) and (-5), but i don’t know what you mean by placed - if they were placed in a number line, it would go 3 and 5 values left or down.

After a storm, a tree lies as shown. What was the original height of the tree? (Round to the nearest whole foot.)
Andreyy89
Using the Law of Sines, sina/A=sinb/B=sinc/C (although there are other ways considering that this is a 30, 60, 90 degree triangle with a basic identity) we can say:

97/sin60=x/sin30=y/sin90

x=97sin30/sin60 and y=97sin90/sin60

The total height of the tree is h=x+y so

h=97sin30/sin60 + 97sin90/sin60

h≈168.01 ft (to the nearest hundredth of a foot)

h≈168 ft (to nearest foot)

A camper attaches a rope from the top of her tent, 4 feet above the ground, to give it more support. If she stakes the rope to t
solong [7]
Draw it. It's a right triangle, with a base of 6 feet and a height of 4 feet. Now all you need is Pythagoras' theorem, a^2 + b^2 = c^2.

The height can be a, the base can be b, so all you need is to solve for c, which is the rope.

The rest is left as an exercise to the reader
