The fossils called homo floresiensis were dated to 18,000 yBP.  H. floresiensis individuals stood approximately 3 feet 6 inches tall, had tiny brains, large teeth for their small size, shrugged-forward shoulders, no chins, receding foreheads, and relatively large feet due to their short legs. They made and used stone tools, hunted small elephants and large rodents, coped with predators such as Komodo dragons, and may have used fire.

Fill in the word that best completes each sentence.
cupoosta [38]

Answer: Water is drawn in through small openings on a sponge's body called OSTIA.

The supportive skeleton of a sponge contains SPICULES which provide protection from predators.

Explanation:

Sponges refer to any of the aquatic animals of the phyllum porifera which is normally characterized with porous structures and has horn-like calcareous internal framework.

Sponges usually have multiple pores called "OSTIA" on their bodies that allow water to enter them.

Most sponges are sessile and because of this, they can't run away from predators. They usually have sharp "SPICULES" which are part of their skeleton that provide them some certain degree of defense. Apart from this, they also produce toxins which poisons predators that attempt to consume them

Which process is responsible for the growth and repair of human tissue ?
muminat

In general, the process responsible for the growth and repair of human tissue is the healing process, which takes place in three phases.

1. inflammatory response. Injured tissues release  chemicals that draw resources to the area, alert the body that damage has occurred and inhibit function to prevent further injury.

2. Repair phase. Once injured area is walled off and debris removed, construction to  replace or repair injured tissue begins. New blood vessels grow in the injured area maximizing transport within tissue.

3. Remodeling phase. Construction of permanent tissue , typically strong scar tissue made from dense network of collagen fibers.

Looking at it from cell level, the process of mitosis is actually taking place during  healing.

Mitosis is used for growth and repair and produces diploid cells identical to each other and to the parent cell.

New cells are needed throughout life. These are for growth and replacement of damaged or worn out tissue. The body obtains such through the process of mitosis.
