Formal eligibility requirements for the presidency of the United States include qualifications based on age, citizenship, and re

sidency status. The U.S. Constitution requires those seeking the presidency to have prior experience in elective office. Voters are least likely to support an atheist for president. The Twenty-Second Amendment establishes presidential term limits. More than half of voters would support a gay or lesbian presidential candidate.

The 22nd amendment establishes president term limits. In order for a person to become the president of the United States, he or she must be a U.S born citizen. He/She needs to be at least 35 years old and have lived in the United States for at least 14 years. However, the U.S Constitution does NOT require the candidate to have prior experience in elective office.

More than half of the voting people would support a gay or lesbian presidential candidate. Even though atheist candidates may face resistance, about 60% of voters would support an atheist for president.
