Wait, do you mean that y=10 is what you want in slope intercept form? Oh btw I'm not answering this just for the points. I'll actually answer the question

A line passes through the point (–2, 7) and has a slope of –5. What is the value of a if the point (a, 2) is also on the line?
never [62]
(x1,y1) = (-2,7)
m = -5
(x,y) = (a,2)

Forming the equation,
(y-y1) = m(x-x1)
y - 7 = -5[x - (-2)]
y - 7 = -5x - 10
y + 5x = -3

Putting the values of (x,y) we get,
2 + 5a = -3
5a = -5
a = -1

A store is having a sale on jelly beans and trail mix. For 8 pounds of jelly beans and 4 pounds of trail mix, the total cost is
aleksley [76]
Make this on form of a simultaneous equation:

assume jelly beans is J and trail mix is T

8J+4T=21
3J+2T=9
then solve

multiply the first equation by 3 and second equation by 8(SO THE J CAN DISAPPEAR[ELIMINATION METHOD])

24J+12T=63
24J+16T=72

Subtract

-4T=-9
T=0.44

then substitute the T to any one of the equation

3J+2(0.44)=9
3J+0.88=9
3J=8.12
J=2.71

therefore, jelly beans= $2.71 and trail mix=$0.44

Which is the equation of a line that has a slope of 4 and passes through point (1, 6)?
strojnjashka [21]

Answer:

y = 4x + 2

Step-by-step explanation:

You would use point slope to solve this. y-y = m(x-x) m represents the slope. With your numbers it would look like this ------> y-6 = 4(x-1)-----> distribute the 4 -----> y-6 = 4x - 4 ------> add six on both sides ------> they cancel out on the left ------> y = 4x + 2. Hope this helped!!!!

(15-6)-3 = 15 - (6 -3) dose this make sense or nonsense?
solmaris [256]
No it does not make sense. You misused the parenthesis and the "-" multiplied the variables within the parenthesis and as a result one of them subtracted (15 - 6) by 3 and the other added, which is why the final values are 6 apart. This is not how you use properties in math.
(15 - 6) - 3 = 9 - 3 = 6
15 - (6 - 3) = 15 - 3 = 12
