Area is the product of length and width. If you assume the dimensions are integers, you are looking for factors of 117 that differ by 4.

117 = 1×117 = 3×39 = 9×13

These last two factors differ by 4, so we know the dimensions of the barn are ...

... 9 ft wide by 13 ft long

Ch lists the steps in the correct order to find the median of this data set?
anygoal [31]

Answer:

 1. Put the numbers in order
 2. Cross off the high/low pairs
 3. Add the leftover numbers
 4. Divide the sum by 2

=================================================

Explanation:

The numbers sort to this

16, 18, 23, 24, 29, 30

Cross off the outer most values 16 and 30 to end up with this smaller set

18, 23, 24, 29

Then repeat to get this smaller set

23,24

We add up these numbers and divide the sum by 2

(23+24)/2 = 47/2 = 23.5

The median is 23.5

The last steps of adding and dividing by 2 only works if we have an even number of values in the original set.

Need help writing a quadratic equation from a function given the graph, screenshot posted of the question
lutik1710 [3]

g(x) = -x² + 10x - 30

the equation of a quadratic in vertex form is

y = a(x - h)² + k

where (h, k ) are the coordinates of the vertex and a is a multiplier

here vertex = (5, - 5 ), hence

y = a(x - 5)² - 5

to find a substitute the point on the graph (8, - 14) into the equation

- 14 = 9a - 5 ⇒ 9a = - 9 ⇒ a = - 1

y = - (x - 5)² - 5 = - (x² - 10x + 25) - 5 = - x² + 10x - 30

g(x) = - x² + 10x - 30 ← in standard form

5 \times \dfrac{9}{1} = 51 x \div 9 - 3

\dfrac{5}{1} \times \dfrac{9}{1} = \dfrac{51x}{9}- 3

45 = \dfrac{51x}{9} - 3

45 + 3= \dfrac{51x}{9}

48 = \dfrac{51x}{9}

51 x = 48 \times 9

51 x = 432

x = \dfrac{432}{17}

x = 8\dfrac{8}{17}
