Answer:  The height is 9 feet.

Step-by-step explanation:

The surface area is the total of the areas of the 6 faces of the rectangular prism. Given 286 square feet.

The base given is 5ft by 7ft, so that will give the area of 2 faces;

the other pairs of faces have the unknown height as one factor

5ft by h and 7ft by h .  Create an equation with those factors:

2(5×7) + 2(5h)  + 2(7h) = 286  Distribute and compile

2(35) + 10h + 14h = 286    70 + 24h = 286 .  Solve for h

24h = 286 - 70 .    24h = 216 .  216 ÷ 24 = 9

h = 9

  So the height of the rectangular prism is 9 feet

A rocket travels in a trajectory given by the equation s = -4.9t 2 + v0t, where s is meters above ground, t is time in seconds a
Reptile [31]

Step-by-step explanation:

s = -4.9t² + 49t

The vertex of the parabola is at t = -b/(2a).

t = -49 / (2 × -4.9)

t = 5

The rocket reaches its maximum height after 5 seconds.

the hypotenuse of the right angled triangle is 6cm more than twice the shortest side. if the third side is 2 cm less than the hy
Mumz [18]

Answer:

Let the base be p

Hypotenuse = 2p +6

Perpendicular = 2p + 4

By Pythagoras theoram

(2p+6)^2 = (2p+4)^2 +p^2

=> 4p^2 +36 + 24p = 4p^2 + 16 +16p +p^2

=> 36+ 24p = p^2 + 16p + 16

=> p^2 - 8p - 20 = 0

=> p^2 - 10p +2p - 20 = 0

=> p(p-10) +2(p-10) = 0

=> (p-10)(p+2) = 0

p = 10 and - 2

Length can't be negative

So,

p = 10

Base = 10

Perpendicular = 24

Hypotenuse = 26

How do I show my work if these are parallel or not?
JulijaS [17]

You can determine if things are parallel if the lines will eventually meet or not. M and N are one line while P and Q are also a line. Therefore, we can say P is one line while M is also one line. The answer would be is that they are parallel, the two lines will not crash with one another. To show your work as if they are parallel, you can continue the lines down and write a note saying they won't collide or you just say they won't collide and are parallel lines.

If r(x) = 3x - 1 and s(x) = 2x + 1, which expression is equivalent to (r/s)(6)?
zavuch27 [327]

Answer:

17/13

Step-by-step explanation:

r(6) = 3(6) - 1 = 17 and s(6) = 2(6) + 1 = 13.

Then (r/s)(6) = 17/13.
