Answer:

The movement performed is the gun of manual Submerged Arc Welding.

Explanation:

Submerged Arc Welding is a type of welding process which is used for the joining of similar as well as dissimilar metals. The arc is produced between the electrode and workpiece that has to be joined. The heat produced due to this arc is used for joining these metals. The fusion forms a molten pool and is protected by using a thick layer of flux or sla g from the atmosphere. This molten flux or sla g is formed by the granular fluxing.

A strain gauge with a 5 mm gauge length gives a displacement reading of 1.25 um. Calculate the stress value given by this displa
KengaRu [80]

Answer:

stress  = 50MPa

Explanation:

given data:

Length of strain guage is 5mm

displacement\delta = 1.25 \mu m =\frac{1.25}{1000} =  0.00125 mm

stress due to displacement in structural steel can be determined by using following relation

E =\frac{stress}{strain}

stress = E \times strain

where E is young's modulus of elasticity

E for steel is 200 GPa

stress = 200\times 10^3 *\frac{1.25*10^{-3}}{5}

stress  = 50MPa

Precast concrete curtain wall panels: Group of answer choices are typically manufactured on site and then hoisted into place. of
amid [387]

Answer:

c) can be made with a variety of surface finishes.

Explanation:

The missing options are;

When it comes to concrete work in construction, the concrete can be cast either in-situ or in form of pre-cast concrete.

Now in-situ concrete means concrete done on the construction site being built while pre cast concrete simply means concrete cast outside in a factory or yard and brought to site to mount.

These pre cast concrete could have different surface finishes as required as this is one of it's advantages over in situ because there is a lot of space and room to have the desired concrete finish.

a) are typically manufactured on site and then hoisted into place.

b) cannot be fiber-reinforced.

c) can be made with a variety of surface finishes.

d) never include insulation.

e) often are unreinforced.

Which of the following is described as a way engineers can test and investigate how things should be under certain circumstances
goblinko [34]

Answer:

The option that is best described as a way engineers can test and investigate how things should be under certain circumstances is;

  • Modeling

Explanation:

Modeling is a tool an engineer can use for the physical representation of a system that will facilitate the definition, testing and analysis, communication, data generation, data verification and data validation of given concepts

Models also aid in setting specifications, supporting designs, and verification of a given system

Therefore, with modeling engineers can investigate the behavior of systems under given environmental conditions.

A mixing basin in a sewage filtration plant is stirred by a mechanical agitator with a power input/WF L T=. Other parameters de
MakcuM [25]

Answer: π= G[√(u.V/W)]

STEP 1

Given parameters:

Power Input W= FL/T,

Absolute Viscosity u= FT/L²

Basin volume V= V/L³

Velocity gradient G= V/L³

STEP 2

We start by expressing the velocity gradient G as a function of W, u, V

G= G(W,u,V)

To get the pii terms, we use the dimension number formula n=k - r

where n and k are natural numbers representing number of fundamental dimensions and variable present respectively.

n= 4-3=1

STEP 3:

We expressed the pii terms as

π= G.W^a.u^b.V^c

The three fundamental F L T

We can write as

Fⁿ.Lⁿ.Tⁿ= 1/T. (FL/T)^a.(FT/L²)^b.(L³)

Using the exponential rule and by comparing coefficient on both sides;

Fⁿ.Lⁿ.Tⁿ= F^a+b. L^a-2b+3c. T^-a+b-1

Fⁿ= F^a+b = a+b= 0..............I

Lⁿ= L^a-2b+3c=0 = a-2b+3c=0...........ii

Tⁿ=L^-a+b-1=0. -a+b-1=0............iii

From the above equations we have,

a+b =0: b=-a...........iv

putting eq. iv into iii , we have

-a-a-1=0: -2a-1=0: a= -1/2

substituting the above value of a into eq iv, we have

b= 1/2

substituting the value of b above into eq 2, we have,

-1/2-2(1/2)+3c=0

c=1/2.

Lastly, from the pii terms given above we can obtain dimensionless relationship,

π=G(W^-1/2.u^1/2.V^1/2)

We can write this as

π= G[ √1/W.√u. √1/2] = G[(√u.V/√W)] or G[√(u.V/W)].... final answer.
