10% of 110 = 11
20%= 11 x 2 = 22
22
10% of 22 = 2.2
2.2 x 2 = 20% = 4.4
2.2/2= 5% =1.1
4.4+ 1.1
=5.5 pieces of candy left

If you apply the changes below to the absolute value parent function, f(x) = |x|, what is the equation of the new function?Shift
Jlenok [28]
Hi! Sorry if this is wrong, but I believe it would be f(x)= |x+5|-4. This is because it shifts to the left, so it is adding 5 to the x in the absolute value bars. And it shifting 4 units down would be negative. Hope this helps!

Maria invested a total of 31,000 in two account, first account earned a rate of 14%. How ever second account suffer a 10% loss i
Maslowich

Answer:the amount of money that Maria invested in the first account is $20000

the amount of money that Maria invested in the second account is $11000

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x represent the amount of money that Maria invested in the first account.

Let y represent the amount of money that Maria invested in the second account.

Maria invested a total of 31,000 in the two account. This means that

x + y = 31000

The first account earned a rate of 14%. This means that the amount earned on the first account is 14/100×x = 0.14x

However, the second account suffered a 10% loss in the same time. This means that the amount lost is

10/100×y = 0.1y

At the end of one year the total amount money gain 1,700. This means that

0.14x - 0.1y = 1700 - - - - --1

Substituting x = 31000 - y into equation 1, it becomes

0.14(31000 - y)- 0.1y = 1700

4340 - 0.14y - 0.1y = 1700

- 0.14y - 0.1y = 1700 - 4340

-0.24y = -2640

y = 2640/0.24 = 11000

x = 31000 - y = 31000 - 11000

x = 20000

During batting practice, two pop flies are hit from the same location, 2 s apart. The paths are modeled by the equations h = -16
jolli1 [7]
To find the time at which both balls are at the same height, set the equations equal to each other then solve for t.
h = -16t^2 + 56t
h = -16t^2 + 156t - 248
-16t^2 + 56t = -16t^2 + 156t - 248
You can cancel out the -16t^2's to get
56t = 156t - 248
=> 0 = 100t - 248
=> 248 = 100t
=> 2.48 = t
Using this time value, plug into either equation to find the height.
h = 16(2.48)^2 + 56(2.48)
Final answer:
h = 40.4736
Hope I helped :)

A positive number is 3 times another number.
Juli2301 [7.4K]

Answer:

The smaller number can be 8 or \frac{1}{5}.

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider the provided information.

let the larger number is x and the smaller number is y

A positive number is 3 times another number.

3y=x

If we add 2 to the larger and 5 to the smaller, then one of them becomes 2 times the other.

Case I: If 2nd number is 2 times to the first number.

x+2=2(y+5)

Substitute the value of x.

3y+2=2y+10

y=8

Now substitute the value of y in 3y=x

3(8)=x

x=24

Therefore, the smaller number is 8.

Case II: If 1st number is 2 times to the second number.

2(x+2)=y+5

Substitute the value of x.

2(3y+2)=y+5

6y+4=y+5

5y=1

y=\frac{1}{5}

Therefore, the smaller number is \frac{1}{5}.
