Answer:

Given the function in the question

f(x) = |x-3| + 2

a) state the name of the function

  Absolute value function

since it is similar to f(x) = |x|

b) identify the independent and dependent variable

x = independent variable (input variable)

f(x) or y = dependent variable  (output variable)

The variable which we assign the value we call the independent variable,    and the other variable is the dependent variable, since it value depends on  the independent variable.

c) identify the rule

A function is an equation that has only one answer for y for every x.

d) evaluate the function

given x = -5

 f(-5) = |-5 - 3| + 2

        = |-8| + 2

        = 8 +2

        = 10

There are 6 times as many dogs as cats. If the total number of dogs and cats is 21. How many dogs are there
Lostsunrise [7]

18, because cats would be 3, and then the dogs would be 6 times that, which would be 18.  18 + 3 = 21.

Distribute to create an equivalent expression with the fewest symbols possible.
g100num [7]

Using the distributive property, it is found that the equivalent expression is:

18c - 30d + 36

<h3>What is the distributive property?</h3>

It is a property that the outside term multiplies each of the inside terms.

In this problem, the expression is:

6(3c - 5d + 6).

Hence, we apply the property, with the outside term 6 multiplying each of the inside terms, hence the equivalent expression is given by:

6(3c - 5d + 6) = 18c - 30d + 36.
