During the DNA replication both the strands of the DNA act as the template strand. DNA polymerase is the enzyme that replicates both the DNA strand.  

One of the strand of DNA gets continuously replicated which is called the leading strand. While the other strand is replicated in a discontinuous manner called lagging strand.

As due to discontinuous replication in the lagging strand short DNA fragments are formed called Okazaki fragments which are joined together by DNA ligase. So both the original DNA strands act as template during replication.
