Answer:

<h2>19 students</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

We will use the set notation to solve this question.

let n(U) be the total number of students surveyed = 100

n(M) be the number of student that took math = 34

n(E) be the number of student that took English = 59

n(M∩E) be the number of student that took both classes= 12

n(M∪E)' be the number of student that took neither class = ?

Using the formula n(U) = n(M∪E) + n(M∪E)'

n(M∪E)' = n(U)-n(M∪E)

Before we can get the number of student that took neither class i.e n(M∪E)'  we need to  get n(M∪E).

n(M∪E) = n(M)+n(E)- n(M∩E)

n(M∪E) = 34+59-12

n(M∪E)  = 81

Since n(M∪E)' = n(U)-n(M∪E);

n(M∪E)' = 100-81

n(M∪E)' = 19

<em>Hence 19 students took neither class as a freshmen.</em>

What is the area of the circle if DF=20 in.
crimeas [40]
We know that

DF is the diameter of the circle
so
radius r=DF/2----->20/2-----> r=10 in

area of the circle=pi*r²------> pi*10²-----> 100*pi in²-----> 314 in²

the answer is

100*pi in² or 314 in²

Answer:

y= -6/5x -3

Step-by-step explanation:

So for now lets bring it into mx + b format

Subtract 6x from both sides to isolate y which is also called subtraction property of equality.

so 5y = -6x -15

Now you divide both sides by 5 which is called division property of equality.

You now have y = -6/5x - 3

y= -6/5x -3 is the slope intercept form of the standard form equation of 6x + 5y = -15.

Hope this helps!

There is a total of 36 books on the bookshelf. The number of hardback books is 15 more than twice the number of paperback books.
uranmaximum [27]

The number of hardback books that are on the bookshelf is 29 books.

  • Let the total number of books be T.
  • Let the number of hardback books be H.
  • Let the number of paperback books be P.

<u>Given the following data:</u>

  • Total number of books = 36 books

To determine the number of hardback books that are on the bookshelf:

Translating the word problem into an algebraic expression, we have;

The total number of books is:

T = H+P

The number of hardback books is 15 more than <u>twice</u> the number of paperback books:

H =2P+15

Substituting the given parameters into the formula, we have;

36 = 2P+15+P\\\\36=3P+15\\\\3P=36-15\\\\3P=21\\\\P=\frac{21}{3}

P = 7 books

For number of hardback books:

H =2P+15\\\\H=2(7)+15\\\\H=14+15

H = 29 books
