Let
x--------------> the third stone measure

we know that
the recommended height for the bench is ------> 20 in
20=[4 3/8]+[4 1/2]+[5 1/4]+[x]
4 3/8---------> (4*8+3)/8=35/8
4 1/2---------> (4*2+1)/2=9/2
5 1/4---------> (5*4+1)/4=21/4

20=[35/8]+[9/2]+[21/4]+[x]

x=20-(35/8)-(9/2)-(21/4)

x=20-(35+4*9+2*21)/8-----> 20-113/8------- > (8*20-113)/8

x=47/8---------- > 5.875=5 7/8

the answer is 5 7/8 in

Each side of a square is increasing at a rate of 6cm/s. At what rate is the area of the square increasing when the area of the s
diamong [38]
Area of a square = length²
A = x²
16 = x²; x = 4
dA/dx = 2x cm²/s
dx/dt = 6 cm/s
Using chain rule:
dA/dt = dA/dx * dx/dt
dA/dt = 2x * 6
dA/dt = 12x
At x = 4,
dA/dt = 12(4) = 48 cm²/s

The scneario here expressed is an aritmetic sequence because it can be explained like this:

a1=35
an=an−1+17

So all the variables can fit in and will be better explained than a geometric sequence in which you need a common ratio and that is not needed in this case
