Metabolites are involved in and essential in metabolism. At times they might be products of metabolism. Examples are fructose and glucose .

In this case, the exercised metabolites  that were found in the human were products of metabolism and they give energy. They were able to increase the rate at which fats are burning in the mouse because they acts on fats to supply or give energy to the body.
