The presidential elections of 2004 was the 55th presidential election in US history. The election took place on November 2, 2004, and re-elected George W. Bush and DickCheney as President and Vice President respectively for the period 2005-2009. They won over Democrats John Kerry and John Edwards.  

Unlike the 2000 election, this time George W. Bush got the majority of the people's votes, most states, as well as the majority of the electoral votes.

The truth is that in these elections John Kerry could never demonstrate a real connection with the people, that would allow him to bend the power and popularity of President Bush, obtained after his efficient response after the 9/11 attacks. As a result, Bush won the popular vote, being the last time a Republican triumphed over a Democracy in terms of citizens' vote.
