vodka [1.7K]
So 5a=cost of adults
3s=cost of students
a+s=1142
5a+3s=4326

a+s=1142
subtract s from both sdies
a=1142-s
subsitute 1142-s for a
5(1142-s)+3s=4326
5710-5s+3s=4326
5710-2s=4326
subtract 5710 from both swides
-2s=4326-5710
-2s=-1384
dividee both sides by 2
-s=-692
multiply -1
s=692

a+692=1142
subtract 692
a=450

s=692

Write the equation of the line that passes through the points (4,7) and (8,6). Put
____ [38]
Y=-1/4x+8

First find the slope

Slope= y-y1/x-x1

So (6-7)/(8-4) = -1/4

Now take that slope and use one of the points and plug them into the point slope formula to solve for your y intercept.

Point slope formula: y=mx+b

So 7=-1/4(4)+b OR 6=-1/4(8)+b

Either way you’ll get b=8!

Put em together and you get: y=-1/4x+8

Ps you can double check your answer by plugging in one or both of the points into your equation to see if it works :)

Find the equation of the line that is parallel to the line y = -1/4x+ 5 passing through the point (4,2)
cupoosta [38]

Answer:

y = -1/4x + 3

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1: Write out known variables

m = -1/4

y = -1/4x + b

Step 2: Find b

2 = -1/4(4) + b

2 = -1 + b

b = 3

Step 3: Rewrite equation

y = -1/4x + 3
