If someone could help me with it would be greatly appreciated. A scientist has two solutions, which she has labeled Solution A a

nd Solution B. Each contains salt. She knows that Solution A is 60% salt and Solution B is 85% salt. She wants to obtain 40 ounces of a mixture that is 70% salt. How many ounces of each solution should she use?

Answer:

16 for Sol A and 24 for Sol B

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x = the number of ounces of Solution A

Let y = the number of ounces of Solution B

x + y = 40        y = 40 - x

.60x + .85y = .75(40)

.60x + .85y = 30      Multiply both sides of the equation by 100 to remove the decimal points.

60x + 85y = 3000

60x + 85(40 - x) = 3000

60x + 3400 - 85x = 3000

-25x = -400

x = 16 ounces

y = 40 - 16

y = 24 ounces

Answer:

\frac{13}{\sqrt5}

Step-by-step explanation:

To get the shortest distance from a point to a line, we need to find a perpendicular line that intersects the line and also intersects the line. We know the slope of the line will be 1/2, but to find the y-intercept, we can just plug it into the point because we already know it will be on the line.

-3 = 1/2(-2)+c

-3 = -1+c

-2 = c

Now, we know the slope and the y-intercept, and since it will intersect the other line, we can set it equal to the other lines formula:

1/2x-2 = -2x+6

5/2x=8

x=16/5

Now, plugging this value of x into any of the equations, we can find the y-coordinate:

16/5(1/2)-2 = -2/5

We have the point (16/5, -2/5)

Now, we need to find the distance between (-2, -3) and (16/5, -2/5)

Plugging into distance formula:

\sqrt{(-2 - \frac{16}{5})^2+(-3-(-\frac{2}{5}))^2}\\=  \sqrt{(-5.2)^2+(-2.6)^2}\\= \sqrt{33.8}

= =\frac{13}{\sqrt5}

Temka [501]

Answer:

X will equal 30 degrees

Step-by-step explanation:

X will equal 30 degrees due to the rule of corresponding angles and that l1 and l2 are parallel with a transversal intersecting the parallel lines.

The angle of X and the angle of 30 degrees are corresponding angles.

Corresponding angles are equal to each other.

So X will also be 30 degrees.

I hope this answer helped and have a great day!
