That's a good question:

There could be many reasons why people believed senator MacArthur, but you wouldn't know exactly unless you surveyed the people that believed him. I don't want to waste your time to here's a few reasons why people may have believed him:

-He is a convincing person (some people have the ability to deceive others or get other to vote in their "favor").
-He had a lot of fans (his fans are more likely to support him no matter what).
-He had convincing evidence (if someone has relevant and good evidence/ support to "back-up" what they're claiming, more people will believe them)

BIG IDEA
How did settlers meet the
challenges of living on the frontier?
11111nata11111 [884]

Answer:

As settlers and homesteaders moved westward to improve the land given to them through the Homestead Act, they faced a difficult and often insurmountable challenge. The land was difficult to farm, there were few building materials, and harsh weather, insects, and inexperience led to frequent setbacks.

Explanation:

The biggest problems they had to face were themselves. They had to face the fear of being in a new place, the fear of failure which could result in their deaths. They faced their other characteristics as well, when they finally were able to settle and became confident they then faced their ego.
