B for Brats and H for Hamburgers
3 total for each of 30 guests
B + H = 3x30 = 90
Then $1.25B + $0.75H <= to $120
Solving for B=90-H
1.25B + 0.75(90-B) <=120 yields cost of B is $52.50 so B = 42.
90-42 = 48 H
So you can buy 42 Brats and 48 Hamburgers

Answer:

x + y ≥ 90 --------(1)

1.25x + 0.75y ≤ 120 ---------(2)

Step-by-step explanation:

You are serving bratwurst and hamburgers at your annual picnic.

We will make first equation  by this statement "You want at least 3 bratwurst and hamburgers for each of your 30 guest."

x + y ≥ (30×3)

x + y ≥ 90 --------(1)

Let x be the number of bratwursts and y the number of hamburgers.

The second equation is made by the statement "Bratwurst cost $1.25 each and hamburgers $0.75 each and your budget is $120."

1.25x + 0.75y ≤ 120 ---------(2)

Yes, is subtraction, to get their "difference".

first off, let's convert the mixed fractions, to "improper", and then subtract.

\bf \stackrel{red~yarn}{9\frac{1}{5}}-\stackrel{blue~yarn}{3\frac{11}{25}}

\bf -------------------------------\\\\&#10;\stackrel{mixed}{9\frac{1}{5}}\implies \cfrac{9\cdot 5+1}{5}\implies \stackrel{improper}{\cfrac{46}{5}}&#10;\\\\\\&#10;\stackrel{mixed}{3\frac{11}{25}}\implies \cfrac{3\cdot 25+11}{25}\implies \stackrel{improper}{\cfrac{86}{25}}\\\\&#10;-------------------------------\\\\&#10;\cfrac{46}{5}-\cfrac{86}{25}\impliedby \textit{our LCD is 25}\implies \cfrac{(5\cdot 46)~~-~~(1\cdot 86)}{25}&#10;\\\\\\&#10;\cfrac{230~-~86}{25}\implies \cfrac{144}{25}\implies 5\frac{19}{25}

A rock drops from a height of 60m. how long does it take for it to hit the ground?
laila [671]

To solve for the time an object takes to hit the ground, the equation

<em>y</em> <em>= y₀ + v₀t + ½gt²</em>, or just <em>0 = y₀ +½gt²</em> since there is no initial velocity and the final y position is 0 (since it is on the ground). Therefore, <em>t = (−2y₀/g)^½.</em>

(-2*60/-9.8)^½ = 3.50 seconds.
