According to the symbolic interactionist George Herbert Mead, the generalized other is: a. a recognition of general societal rul
mr Goodwill [35]

Answer:

a)

Explanation:

The concept of the Generalized Other was first introduced by George Herbert Mead and refers to the general notion that one person has about the expectations the other have of him/her as a member of a society.

Is it because of this Generalized Other that people act like they do (they act in the way they think society expect them to) so they act according to the norms and values of this group or society.

Therefore, the correct answer is a) a recognition of general societal rules and expectations that dictate appropriate social behaviors

*Note:

b) is not right because the Generalized Other doesn't refer to a person in particular.

c) is not right because the Generalized Other doesn't refer to a particular role but more to the general rules as member of a society.

d) is not right because the Generalized Other actually refers to a milestone in development.

e) This refers to the play-game stages and is not about the Generalized Other.

help!! I am having a debate in history class about whether we should climb Mount Everest or not. I am the affirmative side. Can
Simora [160]

Answer:

Well speaking from a debate club as myself I‘ll give you some tips

-Mount Everest is the highest mountain on Earth that’s discovered and climbing it will give you exciment and (mainly something to brag about), climbing the world’s largest mountain could be a challenge.

-Mount Everest does have some cons but they never beat the pros, for example, it delvepos trust amongst your climbing team and it can practice your strength, it’s mainly a test of courage and when you make it back down, you would think to yourself that you made it.

-It develops good self confidence, just becuase you think it’s scary, it might not be, you could un reveal a hidden talent you never had and might be pretty good at it, climbing it will gain this sense of respect amongst others, like futrue job opportunities can see this as a huge achievement in life And could accept you

- You would be one of the few people who’s ever climbed Mount Everest and you can prove yourself worthy or like know that you just accomplished one of the few things that many people can’t do.

TIPS:

So you should use Aton of rhetoric, rhetoric is the art of persuasion, your not saying it so the other side could hear, its mainly for the judge, just becuase you think it sounds okay to you, would it sound okay to them? There are 3 (4 to be exact but 3 for main measures)

1) Ethos- This is when like a profession or a cleberty comes up and State something and people tend to believe them like lets say if Lebron James said Pizza Hut has the best pizza, people who are fans would probably believe him or a dentist recommending a toothpaste brand, many people would believe that becuase they are professionals

2) Pathos- This is to make the audience feel something like sadness or guilt. Like for this subject you can say, if you don’t climb Mount Everest, you won’t experince the thrill fo your life and you’ll miss out on a lot of things

3) Logos- This is basically straight up facts like for example (I just made this up), “Research shows that people who climb Mount Everest tend to be more calmer and happier in general“. Just do some reasearch and don’t foget to site the website to have more better chances of winnng.
