Answer:

a. Three points are C, D and G.

b. Four different line segments are FD, FG, DG and DC.

c. Two other names for (FG) are (FD+DG) or GF.

d. Two different rays are GF and FG.

Step-by-step explanation:

a.

In this given figure we have four points F, D, C and G. We can choose any three from them.

Therefore the three points are C, D and G.

b.

If a straight line connect two points, then the it is called a line segment.

The points F and D, F and G, D and G, D and C are connected by straight lines.

Therefore the four different line segments are FD, FG, DG and DC.

c.

The line segments FG connects two points F and G. So it can be written as FG or GF.

Since point D lies between the line segments FG, therefore FG can be written as (FD+DG).

Therefore, the two other names for (FG) are (FD+DG) or GF.

d.

Line segment has two end point but a ray has one end point and it continuing indefinitely one directions.

FG continuing indefinitely in right direction and GF continuing indefinitely in left direction.

Therefore the two different rays are GF and FG.

At Billy's school, 80 students come to school by bicycle or by car. Together, the vehicles they arrive to school in have 270 whe
Anna35 [415]

Answer:

x = number of bicycles = 35

y = number of cars = 55

Step-by-step explanation:

Let

x = number of bicycles

y = number of cars

x + y = 80 (1)

2x + 4y = 270 (2)

From (1)

x = 80 - y

Substitute x = 80 - y into (2)

2x + 4y = 270 (2)

2(80 - y) + 4y = 270

160 - 2y + 4y = 270

- 2y + 4y = 270 - 160

2y = 110

y = 110/2

y = 55

Substitute y = 55 into (1)

x + y = 80 (1)

x + 55 = 80

x = 80 - 55

x = 35

x = number of bicycles = 35

y = number of cars = 55
