The first rule of factoring is to try to factor a common factor from all the terms. In this case, there is no common factor.

Now we factor the trinomial.
This quadratic trinomial is of the form
x^2 + ax + b = 0
where the coefficient of the x^2 term is 1.
To factor it, find two numbers that multiply to "b", the constant term,
and add to "a", the coefficient of x.

The numbers are -5 and 2 since -5 * 2 = -10, and -5 + 2 = -3.

Now we write two sets of parentheses with x on the left side:

(x      )(x       ) = 0

We fill in the parentheses with the two numbers we found above, -5 and 2.

(x - 5)(x + 2) = 0

That is the factoring.

Factorize the left side 

(x + 2)(x-5)=0 

Set factors equal to 0

x + 2 = 0 or x - 5 = 0 

x = -2 or x = 5
