Answer:

9/12 slices of cake or 1 and 1/2 cakes

Step-by-step explanation:

This one isn't that hard if you learn how to do it,

#1. The first cake has 3 out of 6 slices left or 3/6 after being handed out, 3 slices so keep that number in mind.

#2. The second cake still has it's full amount of slices so that means 6/6 or 1 whole cake.

#3. 12 is the total amount of cake slices that were there and you had 9 left so it's 9 slices of cake over 12 slices of cake or 9/12 slices of cake. WARNING! THIS IS HOW MANY CAKE SLICES THAT IS LEFT.

HERE IS HOW TO FIND HOW MANY CAKE IS LEFT:

#1. The first cake is half a cake so it is 3 out of 6 slices that remains, or 1/2 simplified.

#2. The second cake is cut but didn't get any taken, so it is still 1 whole cake

#3. Just add the whole amount of cake you have and there you go! You have 1 and 1/2 of cake or 1 1/2! WooHoo!

-2y + 6 = -12

what is the answer??
il63 [147K]

Answer:

9

Step-by-step explanation:

Simplifying

2y + -6 = 12

Reorder the terms:

-6 + 2y = 12

Solving

-6 + 2y = 12

Solving for variable 'y'.

Move all terms containing y to the left, all other terms to the right.

Add '6' to each side of the equation.

-6 + 6 + 2y = 12 + 6

Combine like terms: -6 + 6 = 0

0 + 2y = 12 + 6

2y = 12 + 6

Combine like terms: 12 + 6 = 18

2y = 18

Divide each side by '2'.

y = 9

Simplifying

y = 9
