For the  seventh man, the life altering occurrence was the gigantic wave that led to the death K is close friend and confidant. He regreted the death  of K and the fact that he only saved hinself form the tsunami, he was clear that overcomed  with fear, he only looked out for himself. Being overcome with fear holds the potential to shut us down and make us do things we may later regret.
