For instance, Romeo does not sleep on the consequences of his actions when he is obsessed with marrying Juliet. "On the verge" related to being on the edge, like being close to the end of a cliff. Those words invoke imagery

Vibrant means bright and thriving, and prosperous means rich, successful and flourishing. Those words are pretty charged!

The person speaking compares the state of the town to a ship sinking
