Lets get started :)

f(x) = \frac{1}{9}x - 2
 y   = \frac{1}{9}x - 2
This is the original equation, and now we have to find the inverse.

When finding the inverse, just flip the variables, x as y and y as x

f ⁻¹(x)
  ↓
x = \frac{1}{9}y - 2
We have to isolate y as it is our f ⁻¹(x)

Take 2 to the other side { When you see subtraction, you do addition }
x + 2 = \frac{1}{9} y

Take 9 to the other side { When you see division, you do multiplication }
9 ( x + 2 ) = y
9x + 18 = y

f ⁻¹ (x) = 9x + 18

How much grain can a cylinder of the radius 4inches and height of 11inches hold?
strojnjashka [21]

Answer:

553.0 in³

Step-by-step explanation:

(please see attached for reference)

Assuming you are asked to find the volume,

the volume of the cylinder is given by

V = πr²h

where,

π=3.142

r = given as 4 inches

h = given as 11 inches

Substituting these values into the formula,

V = πr²h

V = 3.142 x 4² x 11

= 552.99

= 553.0 in³ (rounded to nearest tenth)

Eight pounds of peanuts cost $24.00. Six pounds of walnuts cost half as much.
dusya [7]

Answer:

peanuts are more expensive by $1.00.

Step-by-step explanation:

∵ The cost of eight pounds of peanuts = $24.00

∴ The cost of one pound of peanuts = \frac{24}{8}

                                                           = $3.00 per pound

∵ The cost of six pounds of walnuts half as much = \frac{1}{2} \times 24

                                                                               = $12.00

∴ the cost of one pound of walnuts = \frac{12}{6}

                                                           = $2.00 per pound

Difference in the cost per pound = $3.00 - $2.00 = $1.00

Therefore, peanuts are more expensive by $1.00.

How long did real cowboys live? One answer may be found in the book The Last Cowboys by Connie Brooks (University of New Mexico
solmaris [256]

Answer:

Stems        Leaf

       4    |    7

       5    |    2, 7, 8, 8

       6    |    1, 6, 6, 8, 8

       7    |    0, 2, 2, 3, 3, 5, 6, 7

       8    |    4, 4, 4, 5, 6, 6, 7, 9

       9    |    0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 7

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider the provided information.

We need to make a stem-and-leaf display for these data.

A stem and leaf display of the data is shown below.

The left side of the table contains the stems and the right side contains the Leaf.

The leaf contains the last digit of the number and the stem contains all of the other digits.

Now consider the provided numbers

The leaves are listed in increasing order in a row to the right of each stem.

Thus, the required table is

Stems        Leaf

       4    |    7

       5    |    2, 7, 8, 8

       6    |    1, 6, 6, 8, 8

       7    |    0, 2, 2, 3, 3, 5, 6, 7

       8    |    4, 4, 4, 5, 6, 6, 7, 9

       9    |    0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 7
